TOEIC接続詞

前置詞と同様、接続詞に関する問題もかなりの頻度で出てきます。
特に文脈に合うものを選ぶ問題が多いので、代表的なものをしっかり頭に叩き込んで得点源にしましょう！

・B as well as A「Aと同様にBも(Bの人称と数に一致)」

Economic support as well as the much food aid packages was offered to the flood victims.
食糧支援と同様、経済支援も洪水の犠牲者に提供された。


・not only A but(also) B「AだけでなくBも(Bの人称と数に一致)」

Not only you but also she is an efficient worker.
あなただけでなく彼女も有能な職員です。


・either A or B「AかBのどちらかは(Bの人称と数に一致)」

I hope either you or Bob is taking this job instead of Kelly.
あなたかボブのどちらかがケリーの代わりにこの仕事を引き受けて欲しいわ。


・neither A nor B「AとBのどちらも〜ない(Bの人称と数に一致)」

Neither you nor I am interested in the news.
あなたと私はどちらもそのニュースに興味はありません。


・both A and B「AとBの両方とも(複数扱い)」

Both he and his wifeare enjoying the dinner at that Chinese restaurant.
彼と彼の奥さん共々、中華レストランでのディナーを楽しんでいます。


・as soon as〜「〜するとすぐに(＝the moment〜)」

As soon as the client arrived at the office, the meeting began.
依頼人がオフィスに到着するとすぐ会議が始まりました。


・once〜「いったん〜すれば」

Once he declines, he will never change his mind.
彼がいったん断ったら、絶対に気持ちを変えませんよ。


・until〜「〜までずっと」

Go straight along this street until you come to a crossing.
交差点までこの道をまっすぐ行きなさい。


・since〜「〜なので(＝because, as)」

Since no one agrees to my proposal, I will drop it.
だれも私の提案に賛成しないので、それはやめにしましょう。


・even though〜「〜だけれども(＝though, athough)」

Even though I told her not to order meat, she did it anyway.
肉を注文しないようにといったのに、やっぱり彼女は肉を注文してしまった。


・unless〜「もし〜でなければ」

Mankind will survive unless universal war breaks out.
世界戦争がおこらなければ、人類は生存するでしょう。


・otherwise「もしそうでなければ」

Please come here by seven. Otherwise I will start without you.
７時までにここに来て下さい。さもないとあなた抜きで出発します。


・in case〜「〜するといけないから」

Take a sweater in case the weather turns cold.
寒くなるといけないのでセーターを持っていきなさい。


・命令文＋and〜「・・・しなさい、そうすれば〜」
・命令文＋or〜「・・・しなさい、さもないと〜」

If you hurry up, you will catch the train.
急ぎなさい、そうすれば列車に間に合いますよ。

Get up at once, or you will be late for school.
すぐ起きなさい、そうしないと学校に遅れますよ。


・whether〜「〜かどうか(＝if)」

I doubt whether he can make a speech in public.
彼が人前で演説ができるかどうか疑問です。


・as long as〜
「１．〜する限りは、〜の間は(時間的な制限を表す)」
「２．〜しさえすれば(条件を表す)」

I will take care of him as long as he is in hospital.
彼が入院している間は看病します。

You can stay here as(so) long as you keep quiet.
静かにしていてくれればここにいても良いですよ。


・as far as〜
「１．〜する限りは(程度を表す)」
「２．〜まで」

As far as I can see, you have done nothing wrong.
私が見ている限り、あなたは間違ったことなしないよ。

We went as far as Kyushu by ship.
私たちは船で九州まで行きました。
